Kitchen Window has the following position open: Cooking Class Coordinator
Job Description: Purpose:
To assist in the management and operations of the Cooking School’s recreational culinary program and assist with private events and facility usage. To assist in the development of creative, innovative and exciting class curriculum, to meet varying customers’ interests, which promotes recreational culinary education and cooking as entertainment while involving and promoting the products for sale in Kitchen Window.
Be the primary coordinator of class curriculum; managing the day to day operations of the published class schedule including instructor coordination, contracts, class market lists, all printed class material, shopping, class service plans, class evaluations, volunteer coordination, and class sales.
Portray a positive image of Kitchen Window and the Cooking School as a resource for culinary information and food preparation equipment. In addition, actively market and promote Kitchen Window, the Culinary Program and Event Center through community involvement and participation in professional organizations. Ultimately, satisfying customers’ inquiries, building interest in products, building traffic and increasing retail sales.
Job Description: General Duties
- Assist in the coordination and development of class and event curriculum including class and event descriptions, instructor bios and other relevant copy
- Assist with the scheduling of classes and events
- Assist in the incorporation of products into all classes and events
- Assist in the establishment and implement the vision for culinary program by setting standards and service expectations for class and event functions
- Maintain master files for all classes and events: including all necessary contracts, guest list, evaluations, recipe packet, etc.
- Prepare and proof guest packets for all classes and events, including recipes, coupons, parking vouchers, name tags, welcome signs and class evaluations
- Maintain recipe archive
- Coordinate shopping lists for all cooking classes with the Executive Chef
- Coordinate and oversee class mailings, class registration, monitor class registrations, resolve errors, prepare and review waiting list, coordinate all class cancellations
- Coordinate and organize classes on a daily basis, including beverage service
- Review class evaluations daily and respond to customer comments, ensuring customer satisfaction. Follow up, categorize, track issues. Establish standards.
- Oversee or assist classes as needed
- Assist with maintenance program for facility and equipment
- Develop and oversee culinary assistant program: maintain network of screened culinary assistants, recruit new assistants, train culinary assistants, schedule culinary assistants for all classes and issue complimentary class credits to assistants
- Maintain a training program for culinary assistants
- Maintain database of instructors, update instructor information in POS database, issue instructor discount cards
Assist with the development, marketing and execution of special events
- Be primary contact for cooking classes and secondary contact for special events
- Assist with special event sales and event preparation as needed including customer sales and administration, booking of contract labor, event management and post-event follow up
- Ensure closing obligations are completed and facility is returned to a clean condition
- Train and become certified in all Kitchen Window retail departments
- Attend monthly department manager and staff meetings
- Other duties as assigned
